milkshake song

I have had 'The Milkshake Song' stuck in my head off and on ever since I saw 'Dodgeball' a few weeks ago. If you didn't see 'Dodgeball', you must see it--and if you do see it, do everything you can to leave before the credits are over. Trust me. I'm looking out for your best interests here.

In other news, Walter and I have embarked upon our 'Worst Movie Ever' competition. I say that 'The Order' is the worst movie ever, while Walter believes that 'Reign of Fire' is the worst movie ever. We watched 'The Order' last night with Ritu, Renee, and Steph, and it was definitely bad. I still think I've got a winner, but Walter refuses to back down, so I guess I have to watch 'Reign of Fire' sometime soon. Damn.

I've put off all decisions about grad school and instead spend most of my time baking and watching TV. Productive, eh?

should i stay or should i go now

Well, I'm back. I took a hiatus from Blogger for awhile, mostly because I felt that it was helping me to relive all of my old fears and insecurities without actually doing anything about them. So, the old posts are all gone, to be replaced with...well, that's really the question, isn't it? Where do I go next? What is in store for me?

That doesn't matter now, however. What matters is that I am having a lovely summer living with Walter and seeing my friends on a very regular basis. I had people over for cake and 'Eurotrip' last Friday, and many of the same people came over last night to have cake and watch 'The Bourne Identity' in commemoration of the 20 July 1944 failed assassination attempt on Adolf Hitler. Perhaps 'The Bourne Identity' does not seem to be an adequate commemoration, but about ten people showed up, so they clearly thought it was at least somewhat worthwhile. Living with Walter is nice, and I will be v. sad to see him go to Scotland in September. We have a lovely little setup going, which mostly involves getting up early and watching the Tour de France together before going to work. I've also seen Claude a great deal, and Ritu and Connie, and Zach and Maggie, and so life is good. Now, if only Adit would come back from the Washington D.C. metropolitan area, it would be very similar to last summer...

I shall endeavor to write more frequently, as Joanna was forced to break down and IM me at work today to see if I remained alive despite my blog silence and my complete absence from my personal IM screenname. I would *hate* to inconvenience anyone by forcing them to email me :) So, look forward to at least semi-regular blog posts in the future. In closing, I leave you with the truly scary results of a personality test that I took (URL stolen from Curt: http://hokev.brinkster.net/quiz/default.asp?quiz=Better+Personality&page=1

My result:

You are an SEDL--Sober Emotional Destructive Leader. This makes you a dictator. You prefer to control situations, and lack of control makes you physically sick. You feel you have responsibility for everyone's welfare, and that you will be blamed when things go wrong. Things do go wrong, and you take it harder than you should.

You rely on the validation and support of others, but you have a secret distrust for people and distaste for their habits and weaknesses that make you keep your distance from them. This makes you very difficult to be with romantically. Still, a level-headed peacemaker can keep you balanced.

Despite your fierce temper and general hot-bloodedness, you have a soft spot for animals and a surprising passion for the arts. Sometimes you would almost rather live by your wits in the wilderness somewhere, if you could bring your books and your sketchbook.

You also have a strange, undeniable sexiness to you. You may go insane.

Uh, can I just say that that is extremely weird and awkwardly close to true? I hate when they're right!

if you don't have adequate soaking facilities in your home, you can use a casserole dish

I don't really feel like writing because I do not know what to say, because I do not like to share most things serious or personal (especially without being at least partially veiled or passive-aggressive), but I haven't written for several weeks, and it has left a lot of people out of the loop.

Haha, let me just break to say that I'm watching David Letterman, and he's got two lumberjacks competing in the First Annual Lateshow Lumberjack Classic--and the winner gets a Lumberjack Slam breakfast from Dennys. Yay. Dennys.

Anyway, I'll just get to the point. My mother's mother passed away last Saturday, and so I moved stuff from my old apartment to my new apartment for twelve hours straight, and then got on a plane at midnight and came back to Iowa. I'm still here, and will be until Sunday afternoon. I'm fine, and my family is doing well, and we've accomplished a lot and it's nice to be home. I'm also coming home for a week in August, which will be quite lovely. But, it will also be great to get settled into my new apartment, and unpack my stuff, and hang out with Walter and all the other people who are around this summer, and see movies and watch the Olympics and do other fun things. It's nice to be home, even under these circumstances.

Well, this was disjointed, and does not bode well for my attempts at writing, but I'm tired and am only doing this because I feel obliged to get back on the blogging bandwagon (even if it's currently a bandwagon of one, since my friends have basically stopped writing). The first post after a hiatus is the hardest. Perhaps now I will be back in business.
