love me or not

Today was Veronica's last full day in ye olde Iowa, so we made it count. We spent the morning on my balcony writing, which was great - I actually managed to ignore the mural festival for four solid hours, which meant I was able to get back into the book in a way that I haven't for awhile. Then we had a late lunch and went into town - I had to return a table to the museum, so we took that as an opportunity to go through the museum and see some tings. Veronica saw the taxidermy case of horrors, and I showed her around all the stuff that I used to see as a kid, along with all the various newer exhibits that have been put in over the years. It is quite a nice museum for the size of our community, so it was fun to show it off.

Then we washed my car (protip: the dryers are finally working after months of not working, although you have to just know which wash you want because the lettering for all the buttons has faded off), came home, took a wee break, and took trash to my dad's shop (where [censored] gave Veronica a very brief tour). After that, we ate some caprese salad that I'd made this afternoon - I roasted tomatoes while we went to the museum since [censored] was here to prevent fires, and I put the tomatoes together with mozzarella and fresh basil from my smart garden for a truly tasty appetizer / salad. Then [censored] left and V and I drank rosé on my balcony and ate hummus and enjoyed the sunset.

And now, I must sleep - goodnight!

addicted to betrayal, but you're relevant

Another lovely day of #smalltownlife. Veronica and I hung out on my balcony most of the morning, and I alternated between mural stuff and writing depending on my mood / focus. Then we had lunch before going out to the round barn for a tour - my mom very graciously showed us around, and it's always good to revisit the place.

Then we went to the house for awhile to see my dad (and continue the conversation with my mom). After, V and I went into town to get the mural festival table from the fairgrounds and grab a few groceries. And then we came home, sat on the balcony and wrote a bit more, and then I made us a v. proper midwestern dinner - tater tot casserole (albeit my bougie gluten free version, not the standard Campbell's soup-based version). It was v. tasty, if I do say so myself, and Veronica and [censored] both seemed to enjoy it.

And now, despite the early hour, I'm trying to wind down so I can go to bed - goodnight!

i guess what i'm trying to say is i need the deep end

I'm exhausted, but I had an excellent day. V and I both worked most of the morning, although I was working on mural festival stuff while she did writing. We ate lunch, ran into town and drove around a bit, came home, took naps, and reconvened on the balcony for another (much hotter) work session.

Then we went to Seymour to meet the parents for dinner - they were shockingly out of prime rib, but the rib eyes were good, and Veronica got to see just how communal and chatty a busy small town restaurant can be. Then we came back to my town and grabbed ice cream at the soda fountain (delish) before drinking red wine on my balcony and (eventually) chatting with [censored].

And now I need to sleep - goodnight!

dreaming about the things that we couldn't keep

I accidentally fell asleep on my chaise lounge, so I'm going to be quick about this and go to bed. I woke up this morning ready for some quality time on my balcony...but then my phone helpfully reminded me that I needed to get an allergy shot, so I ran into town for that. Then I came home, hung out, did a wee bit of work with Veronica, ate a late lunch, and then worked a tiny bit more.

Eventually, V and I packed up and went into town for the truck/tractor pull at the Fairgrounds. We ate walking tacos (tasty) and fried oreos (even better), and then we met up with [censored]. We sat in the bleachers with [censored]'s friend and the friend's parents/wife/kids, and it was a good view for the pull.

Then V and I came home, and we both showered because it was disgustingly hot today and I felt v. close to overheating at the fair. And then we parted ways for the evening and I intended to go to bed earlier, but I did some stuff and fell asleep on my chaise instead.

And now it's time for bed - goodnight!

walk that walk baby

I had an excellent day of #smalltownlife, thanks to Veronica's visit and [censored]'s willingness to hang out. I spent the morning writing on my balcony, despite the oppressive heat; Veronica joined me for awhile after she woke up, but by 11am it was already too hot to be outside in the shade. So we moved inside, and then I ordered a salad for me and pizza for [censored], and V and I went into town to pick it up. When we got home, we all had lunch (to be clear, I would have ordered for Veronica too, but she wanted to make a sandwich).

We then spent a couple of hours in the afternoon working on our separate writing projects from the coolness of the living/dining room. Then, V and I drove around for a while - I took her south of town to the dirt road by Green Ridge cemetery, and then we went to Clio and Lineville just to see them. Then we came home, showered, got ready, etc., and went to Garden Grove. I would say that [censored] was in tow, but he drove, so I don't think I can pretend we kidnapped him.

We had dinner at the restaurant over there, and it was excellent as always - the cheese curds weren't as good as usual, but the fried pickles were tasty, and my burger was v. delicious. And V and I both had the southern Iowa lemonade (lemonade, ginger ale, Templeton rye), which I find delightful.

Then we came home, with a detour to drive around the town and hear [censored]'s perspective. V also got a tour of [censored], which is a rare treat. And then we all sat on my balcony until long after dark, swapping stories of families and various shenanigans.

And now, I really need to sleep - I have lots to do tomorrow, as they say. Goodnight!

where wingless dreams fall earless

I'm v. sleepy and need to go to bed immediately, but today was a lovely day. I spent the morning cleaning, sending emails, etc., which all needed to get done and weren't too stressful. Then, I drove to Des Moines and picked up Veronica (yay!), who is visiting for the week. Veronica and I have been on many retreats together and I have stayed with her many times in San Francisco, so I'm delighted to show her my neck of the woods.

We stopped for a few groceries and then came to my house, where we ate cheese and salami and jam (must have jam with cheese now that I've discovered how great it is) and had some rosé. Then, we sat on my balcony until well after dark, chatting and catching up. [Censored] joined us after getting home, and it was all v. lovely.

We have grand plans for writing and going to the fair and doing various things the next few days, as the absurd heat allows. But for now, I really need to sleep - goodnight!

loose leaf abused ink, used it as a tool when i blew steam

My eyes are starting to cross from staring at my computer too much, and I can feel my jaw clenching the way it used to do when I worked. But I got a ton of stuff done today - almost all of it for the mural festival, but I'm glad I was able to get through what I did. I spent the morning working on my balcony before it got too hot (although it got too hot way too early), and then I had lunch with [censored]. Then I had a video chat with Heather (aka dear respected madam), which was long overdue.

After that, I took a breather, ran a couple of errands, and then got back into the festival stuff. That was what I did most of the rest of the day - dealing with various tasks, making graphics and flyers and volunteer sheets, wrangling spreadsheets, etc. I took a break around dinnertime to take out my trash and make some dinner with what I had lying around (chicken and mushrooms that would have been better if I'd been a little more careful about my ratios of ingredients; roasted potatoes that were absolute perfection). I also said bon voyage to [censored], who will, in true [censored] fashion, be back soon.

I then spent the rest of the night doing mural stuff, and now I'm wiped out, so it's time for bed. Goodnight!

mr. saxobeat

I had a pretty nice weekend, although I didn't do enough stuff for the mural festival and so feel like I need to get cracking tomorrow. Yesterday I did various tings around the house, planted some plants, etc., and had dinner with my parents - my mom made v. tasty philly cheesesteak with hash browns and five cup salad, which was delicious.

Today, it was more of the same. I spent some quality time this morning journaling on my balcony before it got too hot, and I also had a delightful chat with Riturani. Then I did quite a bit of organizing / cleaning in my office, which had gotten a little out of control. I also spent some quality time organizing tings in the garage - I've had a pile of unorganized mess in the garage since my kitchen remodel (or perhaps before, during all the painting I was doing), and I wanted to get it cleaned up so that it was less unsightly and also so that I would have a better grasp on where all my stuff is. The garage is looking much better, so it was a worthy endeavor even if I almost felt overheated by the end of it.

Then I took a quick break, made burrito bowls for supper, and took a shower while the burrito bowls cooked. They turned out bizarrely spicy compared to how they usually are - I don't know whether it was the salsa, the green chiles, the chorizo, or the taco seasoning that was spicier than usual, but it may have been a combination of all of them. Still, it was quite tasty, so I'll take it. Then, [censored] and I watched a couple of episodes of Stargate for lack of anything better to do (one could argue that I should have worked on mural stuff, but one would be wrong). And now it's time for bed - goodnight!

rumpelstiltskin in a haystack, maybe i need a straight jacket

I did a lot of mural stuff today, which is probably going to be the refrain for the next six weeks. I did sleep in since I stayed up until two a.m., but I didn't sleep in enough to make up for that late bedtime. Then I showered, hung out my mom for a bit, and sat on my balcony to send mural-related emails.

I took a break at some point to eat some leftover sweet potato hash, and then I went to the hospital to get my allergy shots. When I came home, I did more mural stuff for a few hours. And then I drove to the next town over to have dinner with Hannah. We went to a new soul food place that was pretty good - it wasn't amazing, but that may have been because they were out of the things that I had planned to order (it's that county's fair this week, and they were catering at the fairgrounds too). So I would happily try it again on a day when I could get their ribs or smoked chicken.

Then, Hannah gave me a tour of her work - she does naturalist/conservation work and her office is in a building with a lot of nature displays, educational materials about the outdoors, etc. It was really cool to see what she's done with it, and I was v. impressed (although I don't feel much need to visit rattlesnakes at night, but nothing untoward happened).

Then we parted ways, and I came home and messed around with some personal to-dos tonight. And now, I must sleep - goodnight!

lone ranger riding through an open space

I stayed up way later than I planned because I read a book, but #noregrets. I had to get up this morning in time to go to a check presentation for a grant that we got for the mural festival; the round barn was getting a grant from the same group, so I saw my parents there as they accepted their check as well. Then I took one of the visitors for a quick tour of my town so he could take some pictures of where some of the murals are going.

After that, I came home, had a quick lunch, and talked to my friend Barbara (Colorado Barbara, who I suppose it now Oregon Barbara?). And then I talked to Katie for an extended catch-up. And then I did various tings around the house, ate dinner, sat on my balcony, talked to [censored] to try to keep him awake on his drive, and read a bit. Eventually, [censored] got home and I intended to go to sleep shortly thereafter - but instead I finished the book I started tonight ("Legends and Lattes," which is a weirdly sweet and cosy fantasy about an orc who retires from bountyhunting and opens a coffee shop and make a bunch of new friends). And now it's time to sleep - goodnight!

cut you into decimals, drowning out the decibels

I wrote a lot today, which feels great and also makes me feel headachy. I mostly focused on that, with a break to talk to my friend Tanya (always a delight). I also ate some smoked salmon for breakfast, some avocado toast for lunch, and made some sweet potato hash for dinner - can you tell that [censored] isn't around since I reverted to classic San Francisco semi-feral meals?

Anyway, I have nothing else to report and much to do tomorrow, so it's time for bed - goodnight!

smack that

I had a v. busy day today. I did various tings this morning, ate lunch, and then went to a meeting for the mural festival. Things are going well with it, but there are a million things to do, so we'll see how it all evolves in the next six weeks. Then, I made a rapid trip to Des Moines to get an allergy shot - I haven't been reacting as badly to this round, so I took my serum with me to bring back to my hospital so that I won't have to drive to Des Moines for it. Then I grabbed a few groceries, came home, talked to [censored], ate leftover pad thai, and bade [censored] farewell.

After that, I poured a glass of zinfandel and wrote for a couple of hours. And now, alas, I need to go to bed - goodnight!

wanna jump up in my lamborghini gallardo

I had a v. productive day, especially for someone who is technically unemployed. I wrote this morning, took a long break for lunch, and then did mural festival stuff most of the afternoon. Then I ate some crackers and wrote for an hour - I'm starting to see glimmers of story behind whatever is blocking me, so hopefully I can keep going. Then I ate leftover pad thai, painted my toenails, gave myself a gel manicure, and talked to [censored].

After that, I was going to write again, but I decided to do some mural stuff that I needed to get ahead of for tomorrow so that I can write in the morning instead. And now, after this v. boring post, I'm going to go to bed - goodnight!

you're the medicine and the pain, the tattoo inside my brain

Still blocked, although maybe I'm starting to work through it. I did a bit of writing-related work this morning, and also this afternoon...but mostly I daydreamed, did some tings around the house, etc. [censored] and I also picked up my patio furniture from my dad's shop, where it had been drying since we power washed it yesterday. And I made a v. tasty pad thai for dinner - it's easy to make, and while it won't rival Burma Superstar's noodles, I'll still take it.

And now, on this v. boring note, I'm going to go to bed and hope that I can get deeper into the story tomorrow - goodnight!

when you play the ghost, you know i call the host

Today was pretty uneventful. I attempted to write this morning, with mixed results. After I ate lunch, I showered and ran to the grocery store, which would have been v. fast if I hadn't seen someone who wanted to talk about the mural festival. Then I got [censored]'s assistance in pressure washing my patio couches - they've been sadly neglected, especially since I don't use my patio, and they were overdue for a wash.

Eventually, I made dinner - prosciutto-wrapped chicken breasts, roasted potatoes, and roasted broccoli. My parents came in for dinner, which was great - it's nice for them to not have to cook, and nice for me not to have to schlepp a bunch of ingredients to their house to cook it. We ate in the dining room, which I've barely used but now have a table in (which I inherited from Aunt B/Uncle B when they relocated to Colorado). My mom also made gluten free shortcakes with strawberries and cream, which was delish.

After they left, I cleaned the kitchen, watched some videos with [censored], etc. And now I need to sleep - goodnight!

the thrill of the chase moves in mysterious ways

I had a v. busy day for a funemployed person. I woke up, poured some cold brew, sent some emails, printed some tings, took a quick shower, and went into town, where I had a meeting about the mural festival (specifically, housing). Then I came home, ate some leftover salad, wrote some stuff for myself, wrote a facebook post for the murals, talked to Veronica, talked to Aunt Becky, and generally went all-in until 5 or so.

Then I made burrito bowls (delish, as usual), chatted with [censored] a bit, and came up to my balcony, where I zoned out while watching a feral kitten play in my gazebo. And now, I need to sleep - goodnight!

we barely notice as the pages disappear

I am out of words and energy to blog tonight, since I had a v. busy day. I got up and wanted to spend another fifteen minutes lying in bed because I hadn't slept well last night (it was 80 degrees in my room, which is too hot for my precious snowflake body), but my weather radio went off and told me severe weather was coming, so I brought some plants in instead. Then I got ready, made a smoothie, did a bit of stuff on my computer, and ran into town to talk to Nancy about murals.

My dad picked me up from there, and we went on an excursion to get fried pies, which was v. successful. Then I came home, ate a sandwich, did some more online stuff, did some mural stuff, printed some stuff, and ran back into town to attend a city council meeting about the murals. Yes, all I'm doing is murals.

Since I have no food, I picked up a salad to go at the pizza place, came home, ate the salad, tidied the kitchen, and sat on my balcony for an hour working on writing stuff (my writing stuff, not murals). Then [censored] got here and we talked for awhile. And then I came upstairs and spent the last two hours working on....you guessed it, mural stuff. I'm v. excited for the event and I'm also v. excited for it to be eventually over.

And now, I must sleep because I have...mural stuff in the morning. Goodnight!

we're just waitin' for a change to follow

I had a weirdly busy day - I got up, tidied the kitchen, and did some mural festival stuff before taking a shower, eating, and going to a meeting regarding the murals. I kept the timing tight despite having the most people show up for a meeting ever, and we got through a lot of stuff (with only minimal despairing over how much there is to do between now and the festival). Then, I made a lightning trip to Des Moines to get allergy shots - and since I was already up there, I grabbed some groceries at Whole Foods before coming home. It was 90 degrees today, so I didn't dilly dally, and it seems that everything stayed cold in my cooler on the way home.

When I got here, I unloaded my car, ate a salad that I bought at a convenience store (which I doctored with a boiled egg, some olives, and an avocado, so it was acceptable), and sat on my balcony for awhile. I also did a wee bit of mural stuff. And I should have done some writing, but instead I browsed Amazon Prime Day like it was my job.

And now, I need to sleep - goodnight!

keep imagining meeting, wished away entire lifetimes

I took a break from writing today, which helped my mood and will hopefully help my book. I spent most of the day working on mural festival stuff (with some inevitable procrastination in the afternoon), as well as taking care of some personal tings that had been on my list. I also took a walk around town to run some errands, which was pleasant since I did it before it got too ridiculously hot.

At some point, [censored] left, and I took my trash out and made some scrambled eggs and toast for dinner. Then I talked to Terry, whom I haven't talked to in forever, so it was a delightful and long overdue catch up. After that, I sat on my balcony and watched for the kitten who lives under my gazebo, and while I did that (v. important), Katie called, so I caught up with her as well. And then I came inside, painted my nails, and thought about doing mural festival stuff but instead mostly daydreamed.

And now I desperately need to sleep - goodnight!

come to find you four in some velvet morning, years too late

I am dangerously close to being officially in a writing funk, but I'm not quite ready to call it. However, I did almost nothing of note today - I did a small bit of writing this afternoon, and I did some thinking, but none of it was as productive or as insightful as I wanted it to be.

However, I did buy some groceries, and I ended the day on a high note because I made a truly excellent Mongolian beef with roasted broccoli and rice. Of course, I had to clean my kitchen after since searing the beef at high temperatures causes splatter, but I think [censored] and I agreed that it was worth it. Then we watched some Stargate, which I do usually enjoy even though I usually have no idea what's going on in the broader storyline.

And now, I'm going to go to bed and aim for a better, more productive Monday - goodnight!

she might have let you hold her hand in school but imma show you how to graduate

Apologies for not blogging yesterday - I had a fun excursion with [censored], but came home v. tired. We went to Rutledge, which is a flea market in the middle of nowhere approximately two hours southeast of us. I wanted to go for the nostalgia vibes, and possibly for my book; we went there back when we had turkeys many years ago, and I had v. vague memories of the place (it makes sense that they were vague, since I was six or seven at the time).

We didn't end up buying anything of note, although I did get a tshirt. But it was fun to wander around for a bit - and also somewhat depressing, given that there were a lot of people who had put in a lot of work to haul a lot of random stuff to Rutledge and did not appear to be making a lot of sales. And I managed to leave without buying peacocks, which I think showed great restraint.

On our way back, [censored] and I had a late lunch in Bloomfield and went to a Dutch Country Store that was pretty impressive. And then we were both wiped out when we got home, agreed not to eat dinner (although I ate the peanut butter sandwich I'd taken with me to Rutledge), and went our separate ways. I thought I would go to bed early, get up early, and get cracking...

...but today I got up at ten and did basically nothing. I did make some eggs for me and [censored], and I cleaned the kitchen, and took care of a few other random tasks. I also did a wee bit of writing in the afternoon. But I have nothing of interest to report from that, so we'll draw a veil over it.

In the evening, [censored] and I went to our parents' house and had dinner - my mom made fried potatoes and baked beans (which I was grateful for, since I love her fried potatoes), and my dad grilled bratwurst and hot dogs. It was all tasty, and we hung out for awhile after. And now, I really need to sleep and aim for a more productive day tomorrow - goodnight!

your arms wrapped around when the fever took

I could write a long blog post, but I need to go to sleep immediately to pursue some other plans tomorrow. I've also been busy with mural stuff, writing stuff, allergy stuff, etc., which makes for long blog posts without a lot of actual content. So, I'm going to cut this short for tonight and hopefully have more to report to you tomorrow - goodnight!

drink some margaritas by a string of blue lights

I spent most of the day trying to get a handle on what's going on with my book. I have almost 60,000 words -- and my previous books were all somewhere between 80,000-90,000 -- and yet I do not have a book or even a semblance of a book, which is becoming frustrating. However, I made some good progress today and I'm hoping to get deeper into it as the week progresses.

I spent the morning on my balcony working. At some point, I took a break for lunch (leftover scalloped potatoes and ham), and then I was going to write while sitting on my balcony again, but it was simply too hot to be outside even in the shade. So I worked inside, which was challenging because I just felt like napping.

Eventually, [censored] and I went out to our parents' for dinner - we had leftovers from yesterday, along with some leftover prime rib that had been in the freezer but that my dad cut thinly for sandwiches today. It was all just as tasty as it was yesterday, and the prime rib was even better than I remember it being when we had it before, so that was pretty great. And my mom made chocolate 'pie' (the chocolate pie filling in custard dishes, since she and I can't eat crust), which was a v. nice treat.

Then we came home, and I watched some writing videos while painting my nails (and watching people's fireworks through my office window). And now, I need to sleep - goodnight!

my money's in a bag, in the back for you

I had a nice day that felt like a day off, even though I technically don't get those anymore. I slept more than eight hours last night, which was a big hit with my body, so I'm going to try it again tonight. Then I did some tidying up, chatted with [censored], took a shower, and went into the hospital to see the allergy specialist who visits once a month. I was feeling some weirdness around what was happening with my allergy shots thus far, but we had a good conversation about it, and I got a set of shots today. So, hopefully I can get back on track and get through them - my allergies were doing a bit better, but the rain we got this weekend woke the grass up, and I can feel the pollen in the air.

After my shots, I went out to my parents' house for lunch. Drewbaby, Drewbaby's girlfriend, and Aunt Kathy came down for the day, and my parents (mostly my mom) fixed a delightful meal - the usual summer smorgasbord of baked beans, potato salad, layered lettuce, and hamburgers and hot dogs. We hung out most of the afternoon, although the "games" were mostly me helping Aunt Kathy figure out a new phone and an old laptop, and also [censored] rewiring a [censored] for them. Oh, and some of us got ice cream at the convenience store I used to work at, which is nowhere near as great as it was when I worked there (although I can still do a good job making a swirl with the soft serve machine).

Eventually, everyone left, and I schlepped some trash around, and then [censored] and I ate leftovers and watched two episodes of 'Fubar'. It's more obvious why the show has mixed reviews - I still think it's funny and I like most of the characters, but the plot is going off the rails and their spycraft seems sloppy and destined to get them all killed. But I'm sure we'll watch the final two episodes of the season sometime soon.

And now, I need to sleep - goodnight!

let the sunshine in

I'm extremely tired tonight - I need to stop staying up until 2am and then expecting greatness in the morning. It's 10:45pm, which is 45min later than I had intended to go to bed, but I'm headed there as soon as I type this.

Today was decent enough, although I had a bit of Sunday Scaries. I got up, made some cold brew, and wrote for 45min or so, which I'll take. Then I made brunch for me and [censored] - I hadn't made brunch in ages (perhaps two months?), so we were way overdue. It was excellent, as usual, so I'm relieved I haven't lost my touch.

Then, I spent the afternoon being somewhat lazy - after tidying the kitchen, I took a nap, did the Sunday crossword puzzle, etc. Eventually, I wrote a bit more, then did some food prep, and then wrote a tiny bit while my potatoes were cooking. I'm really struggling with the book right now, which is probably why I was feeling some Sunday Scaries, but I'm hopeful that I'll get through whatever is currently blocking me.

Eventually, [censored] and I had dinner - I made scalloped potatoes (aka potatoes au gratin) and fried a slice of ham since I didn't like the looks of any whole hams at the grocery store. I also bought a bagged Caesar salad to go with the rest of the food. It was more involved than what I sometimes make for dinner, but not by much - I used my food processor to slice the potatoes and grate the cheese, and it was worth getting out (even though finding all the parts took longer than slicing the potatoes would have, since this is the first time I've used the food processor in a few months). All in all, it was quite tasty, and we have leftovers for later in the week, so it was #worthit.

Then I tidied the kitchen again, helped [censored] move [censored], folded some laundry, and decided to retire early. I did read for an hour - a book called WITCH KING by Martha Wells, which I'm enjoying so far. She wrote a v. different book that I read a few months ago (a novella called MURDERBOT) and liked, and so far this is quite good. It's the kind of book I could just glom and read all the way through, which is what usually happens - but I have plans tomorrow and can't afford to stay awake until three a.m., so I'm putting it down for now. Goodnight!

a celebration to last throughout the years

I got back from Kansas City yesterday after a v. lazy morning that included cold brew and journaling in the hotel lobby + lunch at a nearby poke place. Eating raw fish in Kansas City seems suboptimal, but I ate it all the time in Denver, so I realized that I was perhaps being overly judgmental - and the place was delicious, so I was glad I went.

Then I got home without any issues, hung out a bit, and had dinner with my parents and [censored] at our usual prime rib place (although I went rogue and had a ribeye). I was going to go to bed early because I've been tired, but instead I started reading a book (the first in Guild Hunter series) and ended up staying up until after one to finish the whole thing. I'm still triangulating a bit on what market I'm trying to hit, and the last two books I've read have been helpful for that even if they've been less helpful for my sleep.

So, today, I slept in and then spent the morning doing some first of the month paperwork-type stuff. Then I made avocado toast and eggs for lunch, did some more stuff, took a brief nap, and swung some kettlebells. Eventually, I showered, ran to the grocery store, came home, and started my rice cooker before sitting on my balcony and watching the rain. There were thunderstorms last night and it was rainy all evening today, which is excellent -- it's been incredibly dry here, so any rain helps.

While I was on my balcony, [censored] came home from [censored], so came up and chatted for a bit. Then I made supper - I had a packet of Thai krapow seasoning from Omsom in the pantry, so I threw it in with some ground turkey that I picked up at the store, as well as some onion/green pepper, and a handful of basil from my smart garden. The sauce packet is on the top edge of my spice tolerance, but it's nice that it's so easy - and I really liked it with the ground turkey even better than with ground beef (which I had dubbed 'Thai maidrite' when I made it last month).

Then, I was going to try to be a productive human, but instead [censored] and I decided to watch 'FUBAR' - the new Arnold Schwarzenegger action/comedy on Netflix. We ended up watching four episodes of the eight-episode season, and I'm surprisingly entertained - the writing is quite good, at least on the jhokes side, even if some of their decisions seem poor at times. But it was funny enough to keep going, so I'm sure we'll finish it at some point.

And now, I need to sleep - goodnight!
