outside it starts to pour

Work was very work-y today. However, I escaped at 4:30 and drove back to Denver for happy hour/dinner with Katie. We went to Lola, our favorite Mexican place in her neighborhood; they remodeled last month, and now it has an updated, brighter, beachier coastal vibe. They also made their menu even more seafood-forward, which yielded perhaps too many octopus options. But the margaritas and guacamole are still great, and I had a v. tasty chicken taco, a couple of oysters (one raw, one baked), and some ceviche, and all of it was excellent.

Of course, the company was excellent too - I gave Katie a full update on Iowa, got some entertaining gossip from her, and then spent five minutes brainstorming a possible solution to the problem I'm having with my current book. I should have done that five minutes about two months ago, but coming up with a couple of great solutions now is better than nothing (and I'm very excited to implement them).

Then I came home, accidentally took a nap on my couch rather than unpacking, and ordered some outdoor furniture so I can accidentally take a nap outside in the future (note: I went Wayfair instead of the spendy set I was looking at from Room and Board, but outdoor furniture still isn't cheap if you want anything that won't rot or rust after a season). It should be here by the end of next week, so hopefully I can get the interior unpacked this weekend so I can start making plans to have people over.

Then, after doing a couple of other personal administrative things, I worked for the last couple of hours. And now I should really sleep - goodnight!
